The KM Player!!

Despite lacking a Help file, KMPlayer is one of the most powerful freeware video players we've seen. It includes a vast array of video- and audio-capturing options, as well as skins, a plethora of playback controls and tweaks, and broad DVD support.
You'll have to learn the ropes yourself, perhaps a hindrance to newcomers. But if you're familiar with where things ought to be in programs, and willing to patiently wait for mouse-over labels to pop up and then click on them for the actual menus, KMPlayer has the potential to be immensely rewarding. It supports all major file formats, and all of the minor and obscure ones we tested. It did have problems with the RealPlayer 11's video capture IVR format, but not much else.
Advanced options include frame capture and a frame-forward feature, which is actually a fractional Play button, but the difference is negligible. The Pause button is a fast responder, too. Combined with streaming TV and HDTV compatibility, playlists, and the ability to select which codec is used on a video-by-video basis, and you get a media player that demands attention.

KMPlayer is a multimedia player integrated into the KDE desktop system, capable of playing audio and video formats. However, the main difference between KMPlayer and other multimedia players is that KMPlayer acts as a front-end to multiple multimedia libraries such as MPlayer, Xine or GStreamer. This means that KMplayer can play everything that MPlayer, Xine and GStreamer will play, all together. Not only that it supports video, audio and recording files, it also supports many other formats such as podcast RSS/Atom, DVD, VCD and VDR. You can also watch TV with KMPlayer, supposing your card is supported by Video4Linux.

Google Talk Always Idle!! (gAlwaysIdle)

Have you ever wanted to be online on Google Talk and at the same time appear idle to your friends? Google Talk does not provide built-in functionality to allow you to control your idle status but by installing a simple program called gAlwaysIdle you can be always idle as well as never idle to other Google Talk users.
Once you have installed the program, right click on Google Talk on the taskbar and you will be able to see three new options- Normal Idle, Always Idle and Never Idle.
If you select Always Idle, then your Google Talk status will always be idle, similarly if you select Never Idle you will be online all the time. If you would like to deactivate gAlwaysIdle, just select Normal Idle. Please note that this program does not work so well in Windows Vista for me.
